Relieving the Pressure in Golf Tournaments
As the tournament season is beginning in Europe, here are some helpful ideas to support you in realising your full potential under pressure.
Maintaining Mental Equilibrium on the Course
It’s very difficult to play good golf when you are on an emotional roller coaster on the golf course. The key to success is being mentally in balance. Tour Players have mastered this art but they don’t talk about it. This means remaining focused and taking one shot at a time, without letting yourself be overly influenced by the previous shot – good or bad! To read the rest of this article click here.
Re-Framing Life’s Experiences
Wisdom is knowing what you can change, and accepting what you can’t.
Here is some help with the acceptance part….!
The judgement that something is either good or bad takes place exclusively in the intellectual mind. This part of your brain loves to stay in control by providing a constant barrage of judgmental chatter about events, circumstances and people. This automatically keeps you distanced from the NOW and the natural lightness and joy that exists with this present moment awareness.
Re-framing is like turning over a coin and looking at the other side – same coin, different picture. It’s a great way to stop this negative chatter and turn problems into interesting challenges, with one simple question – “what can I learn from this situation that will help me in my life?” Here is the rest of this article.
Leadership Coaching - Shattering Myths
So what is exactly Coaching? The Greek philosopher Socrates believed the best answers lie within the individual themselves. A good coach helps to unlock a person’s hidden potential in order to maximise their performance. This is done by supporting the “Coachee” to clarify their goals, discover any limiting core beliefs or attitudes, gain a broader perspective, more clarity on complex issues, tackle blocks to change, design strategic plans and find their own unique solutions.
It seems that with the rapid acceptance of Coaching as a management tool and support system, there are a lot of trainers out there calling themselves coaches, who do everything BUT coach. This can be very confusing and sometimes negative for those who have received such a so-called “coaching” session.
I have heard so many confused definitions of coaching from clients perhaps it’s time to put the record straight and shatter a few myths about what coaching is or is not.

Stay in Balance & Train Your Mind
One of the major challenges of our time is that through ever increasing
pressure to perform in less time, with fewer resources, we are no
longer utilizing many of the natural abilities of our brains. The
intellect has become so powerful it does not allow the rest of our
brains (90%!!) to contribute effectively causing imbalance and
eventually physical illness. Such qualities as seeing the bigger
picture, allowing our intuition and creativity to blossom, our
connection to nature and emotional balance are often not as well
respected as a strong intellect, yet vitally important for our whole
lives.
Here is a simple exercise you can do whenever you feel overwhelmed or
stressed, are looking for clarity about a subject, or want to get a
head start on your peers in the first tournaments next year! Read the

I Need my Technical Swing Instructions – OR??
The majority of golfers don’t even QUESTION this strongly held golfing paradigm that technical instructions are essential to improving their golf swing. Except those who have read my book or attend a KAGAMI Workshop!
Well I have some important news for you - from the scientific understanding of how the brain and body work together, instructions are actually DETRIMENTAL to the learning process….
The intellectual mind,
where instructions are processed, can’t communicate directly with the body – so
a natural, automatic and effective swing is simply not possible. Many
instructions actually cause a breakdown in the swing due to misunderstandings,
too much thinking about one piece of the swing or muscle tension caused by
trying to reproduce the required movement effectively.

Root Cause or Sympton?
Consistency – this must be every golfer’s dream – to be able to regularly achieve the potential you know is in you! One of the most frustrating things for a golfer is to not know WHY they are playing so badly – or for that matter HOW to repeat the good shots!
Feeling that you are at the mercy of some outside force or circumstance as to whether your golf game is brilliant, mediocre or awful on any given day, is one of the most frustrating experiences for any golfer.

Judging Distances Accurately in your Short Game
I love challenges so when Monika (Pseudonym) told me she had given up hope of ever being a good short game player I was immediately interested to know more. She was so convinced that nobody could help her, the only way I could persuade her to book a coaching session with me was to give her a full money back guarantee if she did not make significant progress during our 2 hour session. Needless to say this was not necessary!

Equilibrium in your “Golf Swing”, “Life Swing” and “Work Swing”
One thing successful golfers, lovers and executives have in common is they are able to maintain their equilibrium regardless of what happens to them.
Golf being a wonderful mirror and immediate feedback mechanism it’s a great place to start training your equilibrium skills. Yes it is a skill that can be learned, although some lucky folks seem to have a genetic talent in this regard – they stay calm and centred whatever life throws at them. As you can imagine this is a very effective mental state to be in and gives the least obstacles to success - in the golf swing, life swing and work swing.

The “Lost” Golf Swing
Obviously it’s not possible to “loose” your golf swing, yet I hear such comments often in my Kagami workshops after a few poor shots – “Oh I have lost my swing” or “If I start badly I think my swing will never come back”.
If you have been exposed to the Kagami method, you will be aware of how important your thoughts and words are to achieving your goals (not to mention your golfing goals!)
